Islamic state of West African region (ISWAP) has claimed full responsibility for the death Of ex Bokoharam terrorist leader, Abubakar shekau.
ISWAP had invaded shekau’s hideout in the sambisa on may 19, 2021. Their actions was in a bid to dethrone him from being the leader of the terrorist organization.
ISWAP leaders described shekau as a leader of disobedience and corruption. Shekau’s fighter reportedly rejoiced over his death.
They further revealed that shekau was captured In the most humiliating manner. ISWAP described shekau as a leader who committed unimaginable terrorism, adding that he has killed and terrorized a lot of people.
ISWAP broke away from shekau’s group In 2016 over disagreement with his excessive abuse of force, especially on Muslims under his area of control.
The interim leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) ordered ISWAP to take action on Shekau for deviating and killing “believers.”
ISWAP fighters then took their arms, travelled through the Sahara, went into Shekau’s territory, and engaged in a gun duel with his followers.
“Shekau preferred to be humiliated in the afterlife than getting humiliated on earth. He killed himself instantly by detonating an explosive,” as revealed by ISWAP leaders.
